On the second half of 2016, VMware has started new vExpert (sub)programs on different technologies. One was the vExpert VSAN. And finally the list of 2016 vExperts who received the VSAN award has been published.

The program is build upon the vExpert program. To apply you must be a current vExpert as well as evangelizing VMware Virtual SAN. There will be an application once per year for each of the sub-programs. Applications for 2017 will open around February of 2017.

Nutanix has announced Acropolis Version 4.7 GA on June 28th (announcement details can be found here), but if you plan to use it it’s highly recommend downloading the latest maintenance release of this version, Acropolis Version 4.7.1 and start from it.

The new version of the NOS (previous name of the Nutanix Operating System) adds a lot of new and interesting features.

Rubrik has extended the capability of it’s Rubrik Converged Data Management platform and introduce now its Cloud Data Management: a complete platform to deliver data protection, search and analytics, archiving and compliance, and copy data management capabilities for hybrid cloud enterprises.

In this way now it’s cover not only the backup aspects and functions (like was at the beginning), but more new features, closing the gap with Cohesity, a similar solutions (still hyperconverged) but build from the beginning with more features (initially less in the backup space, compared to Rubrik) and confirming that a secondary storage could not only be used for backup, but also for archiving and data copies and, of course, analytincs on its data.
