After the E2EVC 2014 Brussels and E2EVC 2014 Barcelona events, the next European E2EVC event (and the first one for 2015 year) will be in Berlin:

The next Spring E2EVC Virtualization Conference in Europe in summer 2015 will take place in Novotel Berlin Mitte Hotel, Fischerinsel 12, 10179, Berlin, Germany.

E2EVC Virtualization Conference is an independent, non-commercial, virtualization community event build from experts to experts. Started in 2003 with just 4 people and after 23 very successful events grown to awell-recognized event with over 140 attendees.

The company’s as-a-service model offers enterprises, SMBs and startups a flexible, agile and cost-efficient storage infrastructure, available on-premises and through public cloud providers.

There is a wide range of worldwide cloud and colocation providers, including value-added relationships with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. And now available also through Cloudreach’s Cloud Platform offering.

Ravello System and its Lab as a Service solution

Ravello was founded in early 2011 with the sole purpose of changing the way companies, large and small consume the public cloud. Ravello’s Smart Labs have self-contained capsules to run your VMware/KVM development, test, training and demo environments in the cloud without migration.

They are using AWS and Google as an underlying IaaS platform to offer IaaS services (and more) over that with really interesting costs and flexibility. But much important they are giving a powerful platform to manage your “applications” (that are similar as a vApp concept).

Veeam Endpoint Backup goes GA… and is still free!

Veeam Endpoint Backup is a free data protection and disaster recovery solution for physical machines. After the announce of Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE, in October 2014, there were some beta (initially private, then public) about this new product.

Now has been announced the general availability of the product so you can start using it on your clients (and maybe also on some physical servers).

3CX Phone System – Installation

In the previous post I’ve talk about 3CX and their main product (3CX Phone System), its characteristics and the different users cases. Now it’s the turn to describe the installation, that it’s really simple, easy and fast, and also well describe in the Administrator Manual.

As written this product require a Windows operating system, but it support several version, included client edition of Windows. From NT 6.1 (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2) almost are supported, but installations on Microsoft Windows server Core versions is not supported. Installations on Small Business Server 2008 are not recommended. However if you wish to use SBS, ensure that you use Abyss as a web server.

Windows embedded or Windows Storage Server are not listed, but I guess that it can work without big issues and can be interesting to build customized appliances.

3CX is a company, founded in 2006 by Nick Galea, with a simple and clear scope: build a software PBX for Microsoft Windows platform. Could be a strange choice, considering that most of PBX are based on Linux (and there are also a lot of distributions or virtual appliance already targeted for the PBX and VoIP world), but the company as grow in those years.

They develop 3CX Phone System, the software-based PBX for Microsoft Windows which not only replaces proprietary phone systems, but it also delivers a complete Unified Communications solution. And it’s also an open standard software based IP PBX which can be integrated with other applications running on Windows.

By maintaining a global presence with fifteen offices worldwide including the US, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong and more as well as fully localized websites available in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Polish, Japanese and many other languages, 3CX is able to accommodate companies’ telecommunications needs all over the globe.
