EqualLogic blade form factor

Dell EqualLogic is a well know name in iSCSI storage and it does not any presentation. But the “converged” version for the M1000e blade enclosure maybe need more information.

I’ve see a prototype (Code name: Colossus) during the Dell Storage Forum at London and it was absolutely interesting and promising.

The final product is called Dell EqualLogic PS-M4110 Blade Array and it’s fully compatible with the exiting PowerEdge M1000e enclosures (designed and realized several years ago) with the only requisite to have at least one 10Gbps fabric (and of course have an updated firmware).

E2EVCE2EVC Virtualization Conference is an independent, non-commercial, virtualisation community event build from experts to experts.

The main goal is to bring the best virtualisation experts together to exchange knowledge and to establish new connections. E2EVC is a weekend crammed with presentations, Master Classes and discussions delivered by both virtualisation vendors product teams and independent experts.

Started in 2003 with just 4 people and after 19 successful events grown to awell-recognized event with over 120 attendees. Our conference has taken place in cities such as Munich, London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dublin, Paris, Nice, Lisbon, Hamburg and Vienna. The next conference will take place for the first time in Italy!

VMware Workforce Mobility certifications

As you can notice in the VMware’s certifications planner, the End User Computing (EUC) path has slightly changed in some names: the related VCDX (not yet available) is simple called VCDX-Desktop (and no more VCDX-DT) and the same apply for VCP-Desktop (funny that in other point is still called VCP-DT).

Remember also that the related VCP has two different path (as all other VCPs): one is the VCP-Desktop exam (that cover also the vSphere part) and one is VMware View exam.

But the interesting aspect is the “Workforce Mobility” related to new Associate level (VCA): will this the new pattern for the entire EUC path?

It include VMware Horizon View, Mirage, Workspace and of course the vSphere part (including networking and storage parts) so it’s more complete compared to other certification that are actually related only on VMware Horizon View (and of course VMware vSphere).

So let’s see if we will see in the (close) future some VCP-WM (and maybe VCAPs) exams to cover the entire Horizon Suite.

VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 is now available

Finally, after the official announce of one month ago the new vCloud Suite 5.5 it’s in GA and available on the download site. Also the documentions site has been update to the new product.

Note that existing 5.x licenses still works with the new products.

Hyper-V 2012R2 vs. vSphere 5.5

Now that both Microsoft and VMware have officially announced the new released of their virtualization products it’s possible make an homogenous comparison between Hyper-V 2012 R2 (the fourth generation of Hyper-V) and vSphere 5.5.

VMware vSphere 5.5 introduces several news and scalability improvements, on the other side Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2 consolidate its features and improve what was already existing in the 2012 version, with a limited (but significant) new features. For example now, finally, some VMware old date features are mainstream also in Hyper-V, like VM hot cloning, hot disk resize (in this case also with the possibility to reduce the size).

Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2 – What’s new

Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2 has been announced some months ago with the announce of new Microsoft OSes and will be officially available on October 2013 (actually the RTM it’s already available for OEM and people with Technet/MSDN subscription access).

Scalability aspects has not been changed, so limits are just the same. But there are several other improvements.
