Reading Time: < 1 minute Although still there isn’t any news about the VCDX5 certification (and there are only few info about VCAP5-DCA and VCAP5-DCD), I would like to bring to your attention some interesting threads about the VCDX program: Announcing the last (?) Reading Time: < 1 minute Still work in progress to the VCP5 Blueprint study notes, but first two objectives are (quite) completed. Stay tuned for the next objectives! For the blueprint see: http://vinfrastructure.it/certifications-on-virtualization/vcp/vcp5/

The exceptions are the configuration options that are overridden at the standard port group or distributed port level. The blueprint […]

Reading Time: 5 minutes Objective 1.4 –Secure vCenter Server and ESXi Most of the references are from the vSphere Security Guide, but also the old (from VI 3.x) Managing VMware VirtualCenter Roles and Permissions is still a good reference. See also: Objective 1.4 – Secure vCenter Server and ESXi e Objective 1.4 –Secure vCenter Server and ESXi. Identify common vCenter Server privileges and roles (similar as vSphere 4.x) See: vSphere Security Guide (page 59). Reading Time: 2 minutes See on: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/323082 As most people reading this know, VMware recently announced its vSphere 5 product release.  Although certifications based on vSphere 4 retain their value, we must march onwards; for instance, VCP5 has already been announced.  To this end, today there is the announce of the final opportunity to attempt the VCDX certification based on vSphere 4 designs (this would mean that the VCDX5 certification could be near the corner? maybe in middle 2012?). The city will be Frankfurt, Germany, and the dates will be February 6-10, 2012.  Applications for this session will open on November 14, […]

Reading Time: 4 minutes Objective 1.2 – Install and Configure VMware ESXi See also this similar post: Objective 1.2 – Install and Configure VMware ESXi and Objective 1.2 – Install and Configure VMware ESXi. Perform an interactive installation of ESXi (similar as vSphere 4.x) Interactive installation is quite simple and similar to a generic ESXi 4.x. Seems strange but there is no mention on scripted installation (introduced first time, for ESXi, in version 4.1) in the blueprint, but IMHO you must know them, at least how you can boot from (you can PXE boot the ESXi installer or boot […]

Reading Time: < 1 minute Some hours ago I have received an e-mail from VMware Technical Certification Team to add the VCP4-DT certification in my official transcript. The VMware education transcripts will now include your VMware technical certifications. Your online transcripts will reflect your VMware Certified Professional 4 – Desktop status as soon as you: –  Confirm your shipping address –  Consent to transcript release –  Accept the VMware Certification Agreement After complete the task, I notice that my ID is #20… Really curios, because I’ve not take the exam during the beta period (due to no available date in […]

Reading Time: < 1 minute With this first post, I will start a collection of link and notes about the VCP5 exam prep. I will use the official blueprint (the actual version is 1.2, and is still related to the beta exam, but probably it will remain the same). Let’s start from the part that is not included in the blueprint (something is in objective 1.5): the VMware products and solutions overview and some concepts about cloud computing. Section 0 – VMware Vision (not included in the blueprint, but required) Objective 0.1 – VMware Products VMware vSphere VMware View VMware vCloud Director VMware SRM […]

Reading Time: < 1 minute Official news are still missing,  but something is moving for the new exam VCAP5-DCA. There are works in progress for the blueprint (whit also the feedback from a restricted survery that will close on Jul, 26). Seems confirmed that the exam will be 100% lab based. So could be possible that VCAP5-DCA certification will be announce during the VMworld USA at the end of august. Maybe in the same period will start the beta? What I quite sure is that the beta cannot run before… most VUE testing centers are closed in August.
