Reading Time: 3 minutes During the last Nutanix .NEXT conference one interesting announce was Nutanix Mine, a new open solution that integrates secondary storage operations with the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform, delivering a complete platform for primary and secondary storage within the private cloud.  Mine will streamline overall deployment, and simplify the full lifecycle of data backup operations, including on-going management, scaling and troubleshooting – all while preserving the customer’s freedom to choose the right back-up service for their particular infrastructure environment.

Now NAKIVO announced the release of NAKIVO Backup & Replication v8.5 that is the 25th software release of this backup and data protection product.

Reading Time: 4 minutes During the last Dell Technologies World 2019 one interesting announce during the first keynote was the availability of different public cloud platform in order to run natively and integrated VMware vSphere based environments. VMware Cloud on AWS was the first platform, but now there are several other options (note that there are also the VMware Cloud Verified partners, but in this case we are talking about seamless solutions). One of this new platform is Microsoft Azure!

Dell Technologies is the “umbrella” that includes all those companies: Dell, the new DellEMC, Pivotal, RSA, SecureWorks, VirtuStream, VMware.

Reading Time: 3 minutes Veeam Agents could be easily managed from Veeam Backup & Replication console, but this works only for licensed agents. If you have a free agent or simply a standalone agent you must manage it directly, including manage its lifecycle. But it remain very easy like in the past (see for example Upgrade to Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 2.2 ), by using directly the Veeam Agent console, where you can check if a new version is available and start the download and upgrade process.

Reading Time: 6 minutes The new VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 2 has been announced some weeks ago, but was not yet available (although lot of people have already wrote about most of its features)… now finally VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 2 is general available (GA) and you can download the bits and really test all its features This is a huge step and called just an update release is too limiting… there are so much difference with the VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 (released on October 2018) to make it much more like as a 6.8 version.

Reading Time: 3 minutes Nutanix product on HPE servers was announced two years ago where HPE ProLiant servers have been fully tested and certified by Nutanix to run Nutanix Enterprise Cloud software. Was not the same as the Nutanix OEM partnership with Lenovo or the historical Dell and Nutanix Alliance… but still a great opportunity to leave the freedom of choice of the hardware platform.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VeeamON is the big event from Veeam (actually only in the US) focused of course on Veeam products, but that has become an importan event that cover the data protection, the availability, and cloud data management aspects. It will be the fifth big global Veeam’s conference, excluding the local and virtual events… After the first edition in 2014, the second in 2015, the third in 2017 and the fourh in 2018.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VMware vSAN does not need anymore an introduction: is the Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) solution from VMware integrated in the ESXi kernel… and is growing more and more in the last years and more more than 500,000 VMware customers for years. There are different way to implement a vSAN solution and one common approach remain to build yourself using vSAN Ready Nodes or certified hardware components.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VMware vSphere Update Manager (VUM) enables centralized, automated patch and version management for VMware vSphere and offers support for VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and virtual appliances. For ESXi hosts it can manage both the update and the upgrade workflows, but can also be powerful for adding custom VIB package, like for example new drivers. Usually it takes the updated files from the VMware repository, but you can also add custom repositories (or depots).
