Issue in VMware vMotion that stop at 14%

Reading Time: 2 minutes Some weeks ago I’ve got an issue in a VMware vSphere 5.1 environment with vMotion that stop each operation at 14% with some strange errors. Also there were several VMware KB articles related to this issues, with different reasons. The error message was simple: Timed out waiting for migration start request. So the closest KB article was: vMotion fails at 14% with the error: Timed out waiting for migration start request (2068817). But none of the possible solutions were applicable to my case.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VMware has introduced a new certification policy (is effective as of March 10, 2014) that require a re-certification every two years. Actually this does not differ too much from other vendor’s technical certifications. Note that, at least in this phase, this only apply to VCP certifications (and not like other have written also to VCAP or VCDX): VMware is implementing a recertification policy for VCP certification. Reading Time: 3 minutes Starting with vSphere 5.1 the VMware Tools upgrade procedure does not require a reboot, but is not always true… for example the vCenter Server or VM with database servers usually imply a reboot (and same happen if you have a version upgrade, like from vSphere 5.1 to 5.5).
