At the last Nutanix .NEXT event there was a big announce: Nutanix and Dell Technologies collaborate again on new joint solutions for hybrid multi-cloud.

If you remember, 10 years ago, there was an announce of a Dell & Nutanix alliance to provide the Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances.

Somehow the Dell vxRail success killed the XC appliances, but now (maybe after the Broadcom acquisition) there can be again an joined solution between the two companies.

10 years of Nutanix AHV

During the last .NEXT event there was a special celebration: 10 years ago Nutanix AHV was born!

Ten years ago, Nutanix started on a groundbreaking initiative to develop a new enterprise hypervisor named Acropolis, now known as the AHV hypervisor. Inspired by the public cloud approach to virtualization, it was built as an enterprise hypervisor tailor made for the cloud era.

I’ve start writing about AHV in this post (June 2015), but the product was already in early stages some months before.

Note: on November 11, VMware has announce that VMware Workstation and Fusion Pro are now free for all use cases!

VMware Workstation and Fusion are Desktop Hypervisor products used by millions of people every day to run virtual machines on their Windows, Linux and Mac computers for demo, develop, testing and learning purposed.

Those products give users the ability to quickly and easily build “local virtual” environments to install other operating systems, learn about technology, build and test software, complex systems, browsers, apps, games, and more.

And remember that first VMware’s product was VMware Workstation (1999-05-15 – VMware 1.0 – Supports up to 2GB of Memory)!

Importanti cambiamenti nelle certificazioni VMware

A partire dal 6 maggio 2024 (da ieri quindi), ci sono delle importanti novità nelle certificazioni VMware : un nuovo portale Certification Manager 2.0 (https://cp.certmetrics.com/vmware/en/credentials/status), nuovi badge per le certificazioni, un prezzo standard per gli esami, e la muovo modalità di certificazione diretta tramite esame!

Per una volta tanto ci sono notizie positive dopo l’acquisizione da parte di Broadcom e lo tzunami che ha generato negli scorsi mesi!
