VMware VCP recertification streamlined exam

Reading Time: 2 minutes Serveral months ago VMware has introduced a Recertification Policy on the VCP certifications (as already discussed in this post). There are different options to renew your certificate, but for most VCP5-DCVs will need to renew their VCP5-DCV credential prior to March 10, 2015 (be sure to check on your myLearn transcript your deadline, some weeks ago has been updated for all). Specifically if you were not looking to expand to other solution tracks or advance to the VCAP level there is a streamlined exam that offers a quicker route to recertification for current VCP5-DCV holders.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VMware has introduced a new certification policy (is effective as of March 10, 2014) that require a re-certification every two years. Actually this does not differ too much from other vendor’s technical certifications. Note that, at least in this phase, this only apply to VCP certifications (and not like other have written also to VCAP or VCDX): VMware is implementing a recertification policy for VCP certification. VMware exams and related products version

Reading Time: 2 minutes As discussed, all the VMware exams have a release version that depend only by the major number of the related products (or suite). And usually are all agnostic on the minor number. But the only way to be sure is check the related blueprint and verify the content (a simple and fast way could be check the document links). But there are also some specific notes depending by the certification path.

VMware Cloud certification path

Reading Time: 3 minutes The Cloud path is one of the new certifications paths from VMware announced during the last VMworld US. I’m not sure that it will remain an independent (from the -DCV) path also in the future, considering that VMware now is pushing on the vCloud Suite rather than only the single vSphere or vCloud Director part. But this is just a my guess. Actually the Datacenter Virtualization (vSphere) and the Cloud (vCloud Director and related products) are two separated certifications paths.
