Not all the different CPUs are the same: they may have a different Instruction Set Architecture (ISA).

An Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) is part of the abstract model of a computer that defines how the CPU is controlled by the software. The ISA acts as an interface between the hardware and the software, specifying both what the processor is capable of doing as well as how it gets done.

The ISA provides the only way through which a user is able to interact with the hardware. It can be viewed as a programmer’s manual because it’s the portion of the machine that’s visible to the assembly language programmer, the compiler writer, and the application programmer.

Veeam Backup and Pure Storage snapshots integration

Pure Storage has been working with Veeam since 2017 to provide storage snapshot integration
leveraging Veeam’s Universal Storage Application Programming Interface (USAPI).

With the release of Veeam Data Platform and Veeam Backup & Replication v12, Veeam has
advanced the functionality of this API with USAPI v2. USAPI v2 includes the orchestration
of replicated snapshots and the ability to offload/archive storage snapshots in their native
snapshot format to secondary storage for longer term retention. Pure Storage has been
Veeam’s development partner through the USAPI v2 development effort and is the first storage
vendor with a software plugin able to take advantage of this new USAPI v2 functionality.

Un recente studio pubblicato da Rubrik offre una visione approfondita del panorama della sicurezza dei dati, di ciò che i leader IT e della sicurezza hanno sperimentato nel 2022 e delle azioni che stanno compiendo per implementare una reale resilienza informatica.

Rubrik Zero Labs ha commissionato il suo secondo studio globale a Wakefield Research per raccogliere le opinioni di oltre 1.600 leader dell’IT e della sicurezza – metà dei quali erano CIO e CISO – in 10 paesi (tra cui l’Italia), integrando con dati raccolti dalla telemetria di Rubrik.

Veeam CDP – Gestione manuale degli ESXi VIB

Uno dei requisiti per utilizzare la replica Veeam basata su CDP (Continous Data Protection, o near synchronous) è quello di installare gli I/O filter su ogni ESXi dei cluster che si vogliono proteggere e su ogni ESXi del cluster di destinazione.

I filtri I/O utilizzati da Veeam CDP sono di fatto dei VAIO plugin aggiunti tramite pacchetti VIB di ESXi (notare che ad oggi questa soluzione supporta solo ambienti VMware vSphere).

Commvault platform release 2023 (11.30) is a semi-annual release and introduces new data protection capabilities to help advance customer’s hybrid & multi-cloud strategies.

The release 2023 is generally available (GA) since Feb 15th, 2023.

What is a Platform Release?

Commvault platform releases (formerly called “Feature Releases”) could have two different types:

  • Platform release with a frequency of once every six months and a lifecycle if 1 year (from the Technology Preview).
  • Long-term support (LTS) platform release with a frequency of once every year and a lifecycle of 3 or 5 years.

Important note when you upgrade Veeam Agent for Windows from version 5.x

When operating in Standalone or Managed by agent mode, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows version 5 and all previous versions utilize Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB (as described in this article: Veeam Endpoint Backup goes GA).

With Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows version 6 the LocalDB is no longer in use, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0 uses SQLite database instead of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB (the new database path is: C:\ProgramData\Veeam\EndpointData).
