SwiftStack is a software solution to help people easily create large scale object storage infrastructure in their own data center. They can run their own globally-distributed storage cloud running behind the corporate firewall and keeping the data secure and locally.

Now, during the event Cisco Live they announced a collaboration with Cisco to further deliver a turnkey enterprise cloud solution that enables customers to innovate faster, and respond to market opportunities with start-up speed and enterprise reliability. The integration of SwiftStack 4.0 with Cisco Metapod enables enterprise customers to build public cloud storage capabilities into their on-premises data centers. The new solution is available from Cisco and builds on SwiftStack’s membership in the Cisco Solution Partner Program.

With the launch of Version 6 StorMagic will, for the first time, offer SvSAN in a Standard and Advanced Edition. According to Microsoft, Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award is given to “exceptional, independent community leaders who share their passion, technical expertise, and real-world knowledge of Microsoft products with others”.

The awarded are people who “actively share their … technical expertise with the different technology communities related directly or indirectly to Microsoft”. An MVP is awarded for contributions over the previous year.

Finally the results of the annual contest Voting for the 2016 top VMware & virtualization blogs are out on vSphere-land web site, after the usual live show where the top 25 were announced.

This content is become a big reference for all virtualization blogger (it’s not necessary a classification on who is best compared to another), but the top 5-10 are honestly the real top blogger. And it has become a ritual event  in this period of each year (there is also a nice History of the Top vBlog).

Also this year I’ve received some votes and vInfrastructure site is number 31 (last year was 21, two years ago was 29, three years ago 40 and four years ago was 54) in the entire rank.

So the rumors were true: Dell is going sell the Dell Software division to Francisco Partners, a leading technology-focused private equity firm, and Elliott Management Corporation. Just few months ago Dell sells Perot Systems unit to NTT Data at loss of $800 million, and with this new move is going to make as much cash is possible for the Dell-EMC deal.

Both moves are clear and clever: Perot was never been integrated in Dell services (at least non in all counties) and Dell Software was already an independent division. Probably there will something else that will be sold, but lets see.
