Nested Hyper-V in Windows Server 2016?

Nothing wrong with it, but it’s a case where not supported means also that it simple does not work at all. Deprecated VMFS volume warning in ESXi 6.0

Reading Time: 2 minutesRecently I’ve got a strange issue on ESXi 6.0: after an host reboot the ESXi hosts display a false positive warning: Deprecated VMFS volume(s) found on the host. Please consider upgrading volume(s) to the latest version Starting with vSphere 6.0 the VMFS3 version is now deprecated, but in my case all block based datastores were already at VMFS version 5!

How was the first .NEXT Conference?

Reading Time: 3 minutesAs written in a previous post, in those days I’ve attend at the Nutanix .NEXT Conference where several big announces have been revealed during the keynotes. First to all was a strength demonstration of Nutanix: 963 attendees with 7 no shows, more than 3200 registration for the Community Edition, from 0 to 1100 employees in 5 years, lot of announces in this conference, lot (really a lot) sponsors are great numbers and results.

Nutanix big announces at .NEXT Conference

Reading Time: 3 minutesAs written in a previous post, during this days I’m attending at the Nutanix .NEXT Conference where several big announces have been revealed during the first keynote. Really a lot, that I will need more to fix and digest them. Most of them are listed in the press release. New product, new software, an integrated scale out file server, … make it simple and make it invisible were the main themes for the new infrastructures.

DellEMC HCI portfolio

Reading Time: 2 minutesDell Storage portfolio has grown in those years, also from some acquisitions (EqualLogic and Compellent) and some partnership (like the recent with Nutanix for the XC Series) becoming more complete and spread. Actually there are three main lines in the “traditional” storage world that include: MD3 series (based on NetApp technologies), PS series (based on EqualLogic) and SC series (based on Compellent). And new solutions for the hyper-converged world, including the XC series and VMware EVO:RAIL appliances (but also other partnership, like the one with Nexenta or RedHat).
