Reading Time: 7 minutesNow that the new VMware vSphere 6.5 is in GA, most people are starting considering to upgrade (or start from scratch) with this version, instead of vSphere 6.0 (or also 5.5). But please consider this product like a major release, there are several changes, but also new features and scalability properties that make interesting for each new environment, but also for existing customers (with an active subscription if you have a 5.5 version, so that you can also upgrade your 5.x license keys). But like each new version you have to make some consideration first […]

Reading Time: 6 minutesNow that both Microsoft and VMware have officially announced the new released of their virtualization products it’s possible make an homogenous comparison between Hyper-V 2016 and vSphere 6.5 (like I’ve done some years ago with the Hyper-V 2012R2 vs. vSphere 5.5 article). Comparing two different product is not so easy, also if released really closed one each other. You have found some homogenous aspects to make the comparison, at least at technical level (but as written, it’s not so much important now). For numbers could be really easy, but numbers are not enough: for example […]

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe new VMware vSphere 6.5, recently available in GA, increase all configuration maximums to new limits (compared to the 6.0 and previous versions). Maybe we can say with no limit, or at least, to be serious, with really huge numbers compared to the actual needs and the existing compunting power. Those new limits are both for scalability aspect, but also to fit with possible performance requirements, considering that a bigger number of business critical applications are going in the virtual environment. For more information see the official docs Minimum & Maximum for VMware vSphere 6.5.

Reading Time: 2 minutesWith the new vSphere 6.5 the legacy Windows vSphere Client is finally dead! Was supposed also during the beta of vSphere 6.0, but in the RC a new C# client has appear to avoid this kind of transition. But also to avoid the new limits dictated by the vSphere Web Client, like the huge depency from Acrobat Flash! With version 6.5 there are some interesting changes in the clients for VMware vSphere:
