In realtà non è tanto una funzionalità ma una particolare compatibilità:finalmente VMware vSphere 6.7U1 supporta Active Directory 2016. In molti si dimenticano che le diverse componenti di vCenter Server, vCenter Single Sign-On (SSO) e VMware Platform Services Controller (PSC) hanno una particolare matrice di compatibilità con Active Directory, in particolare con i relativi livelli di funzionalità.

Ed infatti molte informazioni su questa nuova versione sono disponibili on demand sul sito di Ignite. Sicuramente è un’importante rilascio, considerando che Windows Server 2016 è stato rilasciato ben 3 anni fa!

You will have some errors in the SQL Server part with SQL startup issues due to “TCP port is already in use” errors. This is caused by a regression in the TCP/IP functions that manages the TCP port pool introduced in the July 10, 2018 Windows updates for Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 and Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2.

Not much news or improvements, mainly the official support for Windows 10 v1803 and some minor bug fixes.

One common issue when you try to power on a VM in Workstation and instead you get this error message: VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard.

Because on most systems it works correctly, but, at least in a case, the CPU hot add does not work as expected.

Ma se per Windows 10 sembra chiaro che si avrù un continuo sviluppo, per Windows Server, la scelta dei mettere l’anno nel nome, tente a rendere il prodotto “vecchio” dopo un po’ di anni… Quindi non è una grossa sorpresa che Microsoft ha annunciato che la prossiama versione sarà Windows Server 2019, disponibile nella seconda metà del 2018. In reatà, le prime build in preview, sono già disponibili tramite il programma Insiders.
