Most people probably already know the terms Converged infrastructures (CI) and HyperConverged Infrastructures (HCI) that are both become quite common in the IT world, with several products and solutions that aim to be fit in those classifications. With the addition of new terms, like composable infrastructures.

But HCI has become a hot topic with several vendors that aim to be a leader in this area, or with several “magic quadrants” that try to define who is in.

And most people say that HCI market will just eat all (or most) of the primary storage market.

The new VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 2 has been announced some weeks ago, but was not yet available (although lot of people have already wrote about most of its features)… now finally VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 2 is general available (GA) and you can download the bits and really test all its features

This is a huge step and called just an update release is too limiting… there are so much difference with the VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 (released on October 2018) to make it much more like as a 6.8 version.

Nutanix product on HPE servers was announced two years ago where HPE ProLiant servers have been fully tested and certified by Nutanix to run Nutanix Enterprise Cloud software.

Was not the same as the Nutanix OEM partnership with Lenovo or the historical Dell and Nutanix Alliance… but still a great opportunity to leave the freedom of choice of the hardware platform.

VeeamON is the big event from Veeam (actually only in the US) focused of course on Veeam products, but that has become an importan event that cover the data protection, the availability, and cloud data management aspects.

It will be the fifth big global Veeam’s conference, excluding the local and virtual events… After the first edition in 2014, the second in 2015, the third in 2017 and the fourh in 2018.

VMware vSAN does not need anymore an introduction: is the
Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) solution from VMware integrated in the ESXi kernel… and is growing more and more in the last years and more more than 500,000 VMware customers for years.

There are different way to implement a vSAN solution and one common approach remain to build yourself using vSAN Ready Nodes or certified hardware components.

VMware vSphere Update Manager (VUM) enables centralized, automated patch and version management for VMware vSphere and offers support for VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and virtual appliances.

For ESXi hosts it can manage both the update and the upgrade workflows, but can also be powerful for adding custom VIB package, like for example new drivers.

Usually it takes the updated files from the VMware repository, but you can also add custom repositories (or depots).

Veeam has introduced Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 in November 2016, and it became a great success because it’s simple, light, fast to deploy and the restore process remain quite the same of Veeam Backup & Replication with the powerful granular restore.

Version 2.0 of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 was a huge milestone
with the support both for SharePoint and OneDrive (Business).

Now there is the new Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 v3.0 version.
