Reading Time: 4 minutesVMware NSX-T Data Center is the next generation product that provides a scalable network virtualization and micro-segmentation platform for multi-hypervisor environments, container deployments, and native workloads. It has not yet become features parity with NSX-v, but the gap is closing faster and there are also several new features and capabilities available ONLY on NSX-T. And the product is growing faster: on June was release the NSX-T Data Center 2.2.0 and now there is the new NSX-T Data Center 2.3.0 release (see the release notes).

Reading Time: 4 minutesVMware Cloud Foundation is VMware’s unified SDDC platform for the hybrid cloud and it’s based on VMware’s compute, storage, and network virtualization technologies to deliver a native integrated software stack that can be used on-premises for private cloud deployment or run as a service from the public cloud with consistent and simple operations. The core components of VMware Cloud Foundation are VMware vSphere, Virtual SAN (vSAN) for the storage part, and NSX, for the network and security part. VMware Cloud Foundation comes also with VMware SDDC Manager that automates the entire system life cycle and simplifies software operations for the entire stack. With […]

Reading Time: 3 minutesJust a few weeks ago, VMware has released NSX Data Center for vSphere v6.4.2 and now it’s the turn of a new version: NSX Data Center for vSphere v6.4.3. NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.3 addresses a number of specific customer bugs. See Resolved Issues for more information. The release notes describe other aspects, but there aren’t new features or specific improvement in this new release.

Reading Time: 4 minutesHistorically speaking, the VMware management tools were mostly based on Microsoft Windows systems. The biggest example was the vCenter Server that has start as a Windows installable software. Other products like Horizon View, vRealized Automation, Chargeback Manager, SRM, … were also based on Windows with some installable components. But rely on a general purpose OS makes more complicated the management (for example for patching) and makes longer the deployment time. A virtual appliance could bring more benefit in a virtual environment (see Virtual Appliance: angels o demons?) and simplify both the management and the deployment. […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesVMware Horizon version 7.4 was released at the begin of this year, and now VMware has just released the new version of VMware Horizon: version 7.6 has several improvements as documented in the release notes. So a really active year for EUC and VDI. VMware has also released VMware User Environment Manager 9.5 and VMware AppVolumes 2.14.2.
