Reading Time: 2 minutesVeeam Managed Backup Portal è la soluzione di monitoraggio e gestione remota di infrastrutture di backup basate su prodotti Veeam. La soluzione (che in realtà è un’applicazione SaaS) è stata annunciata durante l’ultimo VeeamON e finalmente è disponibile. Ma l’aspetto più interessante è che disponibile non solo per il service provider, come annunciato inizialmente, ma anche per i reseller partner che vogliano offrire servizi di gestione e monitoraggio remoto di strutture però on-prem presso i clienti. E ancora più interessante è che Veeam Managed Backup Portal gratuito!

Reading Time: 2 minutesFinalmente è arrivato il secondo importante aggiornamento a VMware vSphere 6.0: con l’update 2 possiamo decisamente considerare il prodotto maturo (e risolti i vari problemi sui backup… e non solo). Questa è la base di partenza ottimale per nuove installazioni. Ma anche l’opportunità per provare la nuova Virtual SAN 6.2, che come di consueto è inclusa in vSphere (almeno per quanto riguarda il codice, e spero che in futuro lo possa diventare anche per quanto riguarda la licenza). Cambiamenti in vista nelle edizioni (e prezzi) di VMware vSphere

Reading Time: 3 minutesVMware ha annunciato che il 30 giugno 2016 l’edizione vSphere Enterprise andrà in End of Availability (“EoA”), insieme anche a vSphere with Operations Management Standard and vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise. Come se non bastasse sono stati anche annunciati aumenti in vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus (da $4,245 a $4,395 per CPU) e vCenter Server™ Standard (da $4,995 a $5,995 per istanza). I nuovi prezzi saranno effettivi dal 1° aprile 2016.

Founders background on object storage were really solid, considering that they were involved in the EMC Centera project and their solution (Swarm) is quite interesting with some unique capabilities.
