Il livello è definito dalla versione di virtual hardware (che dal punto di vista numerico segue le numerazioni di VMware Workstation): quando si crea una nuova macchina virtuale il livello di default dipende da diversi fattori, quali la versione di vSphere utilizzata, il tipo di client (ad esempio il vecchio vSphere Client per Windows non chiede la versione, nel wizard di default), ma anche da come è stato configurato il cluster.
Usando il vSphere Web Client (quello basato su Flash) o il nuovo vSphere Client in HTML5 è possibile specificare la versione di default.

Ora che anche il VMworld EU 2017 si è concluso, è possibile trarre le conclusioni di entrambi gli eventi e vedere se vi sono state veramente delle novità rispetto al VMworld US 2017.
Partiamo subito dalle general session che purtroppo si sono rivelate troppo simili a quelle americane… del resto era prevedibile avendo anticipato l’edizione europea ad appena due settimane dopo quella americana. Per fortuna l’anno prossimo questo problema sarà minimizzato visto che il VMworld EU 2018 sarà nuovamente spostato, in questo caso ad inizio Novembre. Personalmente avrei preferito Febbraio (come accadeva alle edizioni europee di Cannes), ma è sempre meglio di nulla.
