Come aggiornare la VCSA alla versione 6.1U1g (e non alla 6.5U2)

Reading Time: 2 minutesVMware vSphere 6.5 ha raggiunto una buona popolarità e adozione negli ultimi anni. Considerando poi che la versione 5.5 è a fine supporto in quest’anno e che è possibile aggiornarla direttamente alla versione 6.5 (ma non alla versione 6.7) è prevedibile che nei prossimi mesi la sua adozione crescerà ulteriormente. Ma con l’ultimo aggiornamento vSphere 6.5 to Update 2, VMware ha fatto il backport di alcune funzionalità della versione 6.7 con possibili rischi alla compatibilità. Considerando anche che dalla versione 6.5U2 non è possibile (per ora) aggiornare alla versione 6.7, in tanti potrebbero voler rimanere sulla versione 6.5U1.

VMware vSphere 6.5 Update 2

Reading Time: 2 minutesVMware has just released the new vSphere 6.7 only a few weeks ago, but now it’s the turn to update the previous version: vSphere 6.5 Update 2 is now available, with some interesting news. New builds will be 8307201 for vCenter and 8294253 for ESXi. The official vSphere documentation is already updated to vSphere 6.5U2 version. All PDFs could be downloaded from this link. The interesting aspect is that vSphere 6.5U2 includes some backported features from vSphere 6.7!

Reading Time: 2 minutesSono rimasti solo 5 mesi fino al termine del supporto di VMware vSphere 5.5… dopo tanti anni si avvicina il suo “pensionamento”. La fine del supporto generale di vSphere 5.5 è stata definita al 19 Settembre 2018. Questo vorrà dire che nuovi aggiornamenti o bugfix non saranno più previsti e quindi, per mantenere il pieno supporto, si consiglia di aggiornare alla versione vSphere 6.5. VMware vSphere 6.7 è in GA

Reading Time: 4 minutesCon grande sorpresa, VMware ha rilasciato la nuova versione di vSphere 6.7 che include ovviamente ESXi 6.7 e vCenter Server 6.7, e porta con se’ anche la nuova vSAN 6.7! Stranamente VMware non ha aspettato il clamore del VMworld, bensì un evento più ristretto per i soli partner. Ma ancora più strano i bit sono stati resi subito disponibili il giorno stesso.
