Also some months after the release the new vSphere 6.0, one of the main reason to don’t use in a production environment remain the compatibility aspect. If most of the VMware products it’s fine from this point, it isn’t the same for the 3rd part backup products.

One month ago I’ve wrote a post Backup products and vSphere 6.0 compatibility were only few products were available. Now there are some changes in this list.

Some months ago Dell announced a new server architecture that combines characteristics of both rack servers and blade servers into a new architecture: this new converged architecture is called PowerEdge FX.

This was not the first that combine both rack and blade server concept in a single architecture: first Dell product to do this was the Dell PowerEdge VRTX (it also combine the tower form factor).

But the FX is something different: this platform was not designed to replace Dell’s blade server portfolio, it’s designed for better density and scalability compared to the M1000e blade system. It’s like the comparison between the PowerEdge rack series and the PowerEdge-C cloud series… In my opinion, the FX is mostly a modular version of the PowerEdge C series.

Ravello it’s a powerful IaaS platform with the ability to run your VMware/KVM development, test, training and demo environments in without any changes. They are using AWS and Google as an underlying IaaS platform to offer IaaS services (and more) over that with really interesting costs and flexibility.

You can build new VMs or simple import existing VM from your platform and run on Ravello. And you can have also nested virtualization for your labs!

Some days ago, I’ve wrote a post about this interesting solution, but I’ve not provide enough information on how import your data in this platform.
