In alcuni casi potrebbe rimanere un pool di VMware Horizon View pendente in fase di cancellazione, ma che non si completa mai e non sparisce dall’interfaccia di gestione. I motivi possono essere vari, ma di solito sono legati ad operazioni condotte manualmente con il VMware vCenter Server sulle VM, anziché usare il View Manager.

In questi casi sarà complicato sistemare il problema, ma soprattutto non si potrà più costruire un pool con quel nome e probabilmente neppure VM con il pattern usato dal pool.

L’unica soluzione è sistemare nanualmente usando queste VMware KB: Manually deleting linked clones or stale virtual desktop entries from VMware View Manager 4.5 and later (2015112) e Manually deleting linked clones or stale virtual desktop entries from VMware View Manager 3.x and 4.0 (1008658).

Il primo passo sarà quello di ripulire la configurazione dei View Connection Server, tramite un editor LDAP, come ad esempio ADSI Edit (in un modo simile a quanto già discusso riguardo al rimuovere da vCenter Plugins il plugin di Enterprise Converter). Per collegarsi al database:

  • Select Select or type a Distinguished Name or Naming Context.
  • In the field below, type dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int
  • Select Select or type a domain or server.
  • In the field below, type localhost

Rimossi i riferimenti a VM, ma soprattutto al nome del pool, rimane da ripulire il Composer Server, altrimenti i nomi delle VM rimarranno comunque già “usati” e bloccati.In questo caso è possibile usare un tool da command line:

SviConfig -operation=RemoveSviClone -VmName=VMname -AdminUser=TheLocalAdminUser -AdminPassword=TheLocalAdminPassword -ServerUrl=TheViewComposerServerURL

dove:

  • VMname is the name of the virtual machine to remove.
  • TheLocalAdminUser is the name of the user who is part of the local administrator group. The default value is Administrator.
  • TheLocalAdminPassword is the password of the administrator used to connect to the View Composer server.
  • TheViewComposerServerUrl is the View Composer server URL. The default value is https://localhost:18443/SviService/v2_0.
    For VMware View Manager 5.1 and later, TheViewComposerServerUrl is the View Composer server URL. The default value is https://localhost:18443/SviService/v3_0
