Oramai è da 10 anni che non vengono più prodotti floppy disk: Sony annunciò che da marzo 2011 avrebbe terminato la produzione di floppy disk. Verbatim anche se in un primo momento dichiarò di aver intenzione di continuare la loro produzione, decise, tuttavia, di cessarla nel 2015.
