The IT Press Tour (ITPT) is an intinerant tour of a group of famous US and European journalists travels to California, Colorado or other place to meet companies in the IT Infrastructure, Cloud, Networking, Data Management and Storage world and learn more about their products and solutions.

Since the 1st tour edition, the IT Press Tour have met 299 companies with 527 different sessions! Some companies did multiple editions and adopted the IT Press Tour as a key marketing communication medium once a year.

The VMware vSphere Host Client (or Host UI) was initially released as a fling in 2015, and then included as the default host client GUI interface with vSphere 6.0 Update 2.

A web HTML5 interface was needed in order to replace the legacy Windows’s based vSphere Client.

And was a good solution, light and fast enough… But after 10 years it becomes old and the user experience is too much different compared to the vSphere Client (HTML5).

Veeam Backup & Replication support for KVM was limited, at the VM image level, only to Nutanix AHV and RedHat Virtualization (RHV)… until now.

Of course, is possible to use Veeam Agent to manage the backup of workloads on different type of hypervisors, but having a native image level backup support is important to improve backup speed, simplicity and also have fast recoverability.

KVM solutions are growing fast, but it’s a fragmented world, with too many variants and dialects.

Now Veeam is announcing the support for Oracle Linux KVM!

XZ Utils (formerly LZMA Utils) provides a general-purpose data-compression library plus command-line tools.

March 29, 2024 is a day that will hardly be forgotten by the open source community: Andres Freund disclosed his findings about the compromise in the XZ Utils, which would enable an attacker to silently gain access to a targeted affected system.

CVE-2024-3094 is a vulnerability discovered in the open-source library XZ Utils that stems from malicious code that was pushed into the library by one of its maintainers.
