Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 2.0 has been released on May 2017, and now there is a new version available: v2.1.

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is built on the extremely successful Veeam Endpoint Backup™ FREE and includes two brand new editions — Workstation and Server — with additional features designed to ensure the Availability of your Windows workloads by providing backup and recovery for physical and cloud-based workloads, as well as endpoint devices that belong to remote users.

There are a lot of improvements and new features for this new version.

Nutanix ha annunciato la nuova lista dei Nutanix Tech Champions (NTC) 2018.

Il programma NTC, nato nel 2014, è simile ad altri community award come VMware vExpert, Microsoft MVP, Cisco Champions, EMC Elect, … e premia chi, all’interno delle diverse community, si prodiga a condividere la propria conoscenza ed esperienza.

Nuove versioni dei prodotti Veeam

Nella giornata di ieri (19 dicembre 2017), Veeam ha rilasciato diverse nuove versioni (benché si tratti in molti casi di “minor” version) dei suoi prodotto di punti per la availability.

Benché non si tratti di major release (a parte l’agente per Linux), si tratta comunque di rilasci importanti che corrispondono a nuove funzionalità (alcune in origine previste per la versione 10 di Backup & Replication).

Instead of release a new v10 version of Veeam Backup & Replication, seems that Veeam is upgrading the current v9.5 with several features announced for the future v10 (if there will be a future v10).

The new Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3 adds several improvements and new features (see the release notes of the product).

Nuova opzione di scalabilità per gli storage Tintri

Tintri è uno storage vendor ancora poco conosciuto in Italia, ma con molte interessanti funzionalità. La loro VM-aware All-Flash storage platform è nata per ambienti di virtualizzazione e cloud (in Italia è utilizzata da un importante cloud provider). I prodotti sono sia di tipo All-Flash che Hybrid-Flash, ma le vere novità sono rappresentate dal concetto di VM-aware (anni prima del Virtual Volumes), la parte di analytics (con dati molto granulari per ogni VM) e il loro modello di scalabilità.

I loro prodotti sono basati su sistemi a doppio controller con diversi dischi. Quindi un modello apparentemente di tipo scale-up (o scale-in) model. Ma alcuni anni fa, Tintri ha svelato il suo modello scale-out dove più storage potevano essere combinati insieme, non solo dal punto di vista capacitivo.

One year ago, VMware has started the bifurcation of VMware Tools for Legacy and Current Guests using of two separate delivery vehicles:

  • VMware Tools 10.1 is available for OEM-supported guest OSs only
  • VMware Tools 10.0.12 was for the guests OS that have fallen out of support by their respective vendors are offered “frozen”.

The frozen VMware Tools will not receive feature enhancements going forward.

vOneCloud is an OpenNebula distribution optimized to work on existing VMware vCenter deployments to provide full cloud features.

It deploys an enterprise-ready OpenNebula cloud just in a few minutes where the infrastructure is managed by already familiar VMware tools, such as vSphere and vCenter Operations Manager, and the provisioning, elasticity and multi-tenancy cloud features are offered by OpenNebula.
