Reading Time: 5 minutesQualche mese fa Rubrik aveva annunciato la disponibilità della versione 2.0 della loro soluzione Rubrik Converged Data Management orientata ad un nuovo approccio alla data protection (vedere anche il mio post precedente). Rubrik è la classica start-up americana nel mondo dello storage (anche se è riduttivo classificarla in questa area specifica), con un prodotto interessante, ma soprattutto un approccio abbastanza innovativo. La novità (in realtà non di Rubrik, ma è un vero e proprio trend recente del mercato) è nel modello utilizzato per risolvere il problema dei backup e in generale quella della data protection.

Reading Time: 3 minutesMinio is a new company build around an Open Source cloud storage product, built by veterans from Gluster. Gluster is a distributed filesystem was purchased by Red Hat in 2011 for $136 million to use it as a base of their SDS vision, like with the Red Hat Storage Server. Minio co-founder and CEO, Anand Babu Periasamy, was CTO at Gluster, Inc and other people from the Gluster team moved in Minio. Six months ago, Minio lands $3.3M seed round from venture capitalists.

Cohesity: soluzione completa per lo storage secondario

Reading Time: 5 minutesCohesity è uno storage/solution vendor relativamente recente, con base nella Silicon Valley (a Santa Clara), ma con una chiara idea sul tipo di mission e vision: realizzare un soluzione completa per gestire lo storage secondario (quello utilizzato da backup, archiving, shares, …) e quindi un target molto specifico. In un post precedente, avevo già descritto cosa fosse la Cohesity Data Platform, ma mi ero limitato a scriverlo in inglese pensando che i tempi non fossero ancora maturi per l’Italia.

For sure they are a strong company, with more than 1800 systems deployed with Tegileproducts, including interesting names including Ferrari, McLaren, Tesla, … More than 1100 customers, doesn’t sound bad, at all! And around 360 employees worldwide and good investors (one, for example, is HGST!).
