#ITPT 14 Report – Primary Data

Reading Time: 8 minutesDurante l’ultima edizione dell’IT Press Tour (la 14ma e la prima alla quale ho avuto l’onore di partecipare), svoltasi nella Silicon Valley (nel periodo dal primo a 5 dicembre 2014), abbiamo avuto l’occasione di incontrare molte aziende in differenti aree (Cloud, Storage e Big Data). La terza azienda che abbiamo incontrato durante il quarto giorno del tour è stata Primary Data, una nuova azienda nel mondo dello storage, ma con una soluzione che potrebbe completamente cambiare questo mondo.

Reading Time: 9 minutesDurante l’ultima edizione dell’IT Press Tour (la 14ma e la prima alla quale ho avuto l’onore di partecipare), svoltasi nella Silicon Valley (nel periodo dal primo a 5 dicembre 2014), abbiamo avuto l’occasione di incontrare molte aziende in differenti aree (Cloud, Storage e Big Data). La prima che abbiamo incontrato nel secondo giorno è stata Exablox, e le sue presentazioni probabilmente sono state tre le migliori, sia per il contenuto, che per il modo di presentare, ma anche per il tipo di vision e prodotto che loro hanno.

Reading Time: 2 minutesDurante l’ultima edizione del VMworld Europeo, ho avuto l’opportunità di parlare con Gregg Holzrichter, Vice President of Marketing di Atlantis Computing a riguardo dei loro prodotti per la virtualizzazione. Visto che li avevo già incontrati al VMworld EU 2013 e pure all’ultimo Virtualization Field Day, questa è stata l’occasione per conoscere le novità sui loro prodotti. Nordic VMUG User Conference 2014

Reading Time: 2 minutesToday I’m attending at the Nordic VMUG User Conference (it must be the second or the third user conference of this group) that represent also my first VMUG User Conference outside Italy. Past year there were 470 attendees (623 registered) really a lot of people and, in fact, the Bella Center is used (the same used in VMworld EU editions in Copenhagen).

Reading Time: 6 minutesDurante la prima edizione europea dei Tech Field Day (in particolare i Tech Field Day extra alVMworld di Barcellona) una delle aziende che abbiamo visto nel secondo giorno è stata Diablo Technologies con una presentazione decisamente tecnica ed interessante. Questa azienda non è la classica start-up, visto è stata fondata nel 2003, ma soprattutto lavorano su una particolare tecnologia di storage chiamata Memory Channel Storage (MCS), una soluzione molto innovativa di storage locale flash ad alta velocità e bassisima latenza. NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5

Reading Time: 1 minuteSome months after the announce of the version 4 of their product, NAKIVO Inc. has released the new NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5. This product is going to fill the features gap with other products introducing the Flash VM Boot feature that provides the ability to run VMware VMs directly from compressed and deduplicated VM backups, without recovering the entire VMs first. The backup from which the VM is started remains unchanged to preserve the integrity of the data.
